Bixpy Steering Systems Guide

Looking to find which Bixpy Steering System will work best for your watercraft application? You have come to the right place. On this page we have provided a breakdown of each K-1 marine motor steering systems in order to assist you in getting the proper setup. Tiller Steering Handle

The Tiller Steering Handle arm is a universal addition to any Bixpy Adapters with a vertical down pipe (the blue pipes). You can easily bolt this steering adapter to your existing Bixpy Steering Wing and use it to steer your Bixpy K-1 Motor setup. 

Although most commonly seen on the Transom Adapter, the Tiller Steering Handle can be used on any Bixpy steering wing, including the Universal Kayak & Canoe Adapter, the Hobie® Pro Angler / Compass Adapter and the Power Pole Adapter. 

Keep in mind that using a tiller steering adapter is not ideal for kayak use as the arm will need to swing wide, which is difficult to achieve in a kayak. The ideal steering mechanism for kayaks is the Bixpy Pole Steering. 

Includes:

  • Bixpy steering wing adapter pieces 
  • Tiller Steering Handle (2 sizes - 12" and 24" included in the box)
  • One rubber grip for your tiller handle 

Bixpy Pole Steering

The Bixpy Pole Steering can be used with any of the Bixpy Adapter that offer a 1" vertical pipe (the blue pipes). This includes the Power Pole Adapter, the Universal Kayak & Canoe Adapter, the Hobie® Pro Angler / Compass Adapter and the Transom Adapter.

The steering adapter bolts onto the vertical pipe and tightens using stainless steel screws. Then the swivel arm allows you to steer your adapter with a simple sliding motion of a standard broom stick or paintbrush handle. 

**The actual pole is not included in this adapter but the adapter accepts any standard broom handle or paint brush handle.

We recommend a higher grade aluminum handle for salt water applications and telescopic paint brush handles if you want adjustability.

Foot Pedal Steering System

The Foot Pedal Steering System is a simple to use and robust foot pedal system which can provide steering for most Bixpy Adapters, including the Power Pole Adapter, the Universal Kayak & Canoe Adapter, the Transom Adapter and the Universal Rudder Adapter.

Includes:

  • a pair of adjustable foot pedals
  • 500lb braided kevlar steering line
  • nuts & bolts for installation
  • 1/4" (6mm) tubing to run steering lines

Bixpy Hand Steering Kit

The Bixpy Hand Steering is a compact system which provides steering for the Universal Kayak & Canoe Adapter and the Universal Rudder Adapter.

This steering system can also be used for non-Bixpy applications; however, it is not recommended for motors larger than 30 lb in thrust or motors that weigh considerately more than the Bixpy Jets (which only weigh 2 lb).

The Bixpy Hand Steering provides 1.4" (36mm) of line travel in each direction (left and right), an ideal distance for rudders, but not great for larger motors that require more travel. To create a better and more responsive steering system for adapters with long motor shafts (like the Power Pole Adapter or the Universal Kayak & Canoe Adapter), we recommend the addition of the Bixpy V-Arm™ Steering Bracket.

  • 500lb braided kevlar steering line
  • nuts & bolts for installation
  • 1/4" (6mm) tubing to run lines inside kayak
